Grief to Growth: Navigating Change in the Partners Process

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, January 27th at 6:00 p.m. The Proto-Cathedral will host an event focused on navigating the challenges of the Partners in the Gospel process. The evening will be facilitated by Tom East, Parish Family Liaison and gifted facilitator. This is a valuable opportunity for insight, conversation, and guidance—you won’t want to miss it.

Update - January 4, 2026

New Parish Family Name

We would like to share a brief update on the process for selecting a new parish name. For now, “Parish Family 45” is simply a temporary placeholder. Each parish within the family continues to retain its current parish name until we formally become one canonical parish.

As our parish family works together in the coming months, we will develop a One Parish Plan that will guide how we come together as a single parish. In the final phase of that process, we will begin discerning a new parish name from an approved list provided by the Archdiocese of Seattle. This list includes both more recent saint names and more traditional parish names.

Our parish family will submit its top five name choices, and the final parish name will be selected by the Archbishop. This new parish name will be distinct from the names of existing parishes in our region. Church buildings will continue to retain their current names.

We will share additional updates as the name discernment process moves forward.

Update - April 9, 2025

All parish families in our archdiocese are tasked with forming a “Parish Family Advisory Council”. This council is comprised of parishioners from all three locations in our parish family, and their task is to help our parish family discern our future parish life.

We are excited to announce the Parish Family 45 Advisory Council! Please keep this council in your prayers as we continue to work through the Partners in the Gospel process.

All parishioners at all three locations will have the opportunity to participate in this process through listening sessions throughout different stages of the process. Please watch the bulletin for more information on when these listening sessions will take place.

Update - February 2, 2025

Five parishioners from across the three churches in Parish Family 45 have agreed to serve as members of our new Hospitality Team! This team will be meeting in regard to shared parish liturgies, celebrations, and the annual parish family picnic. Their role will be to organize each event and find members from their church campus to do the work necessary to run the event. At the moment, the events on the schedule include the Confirmation Mass, Parish Family Picnic, and the Rite of Election reception. This team also assisted with the 175th anniversary celebration at the Proto Cathedral on January 25.

This is just one of many small steps along the journey to becoming one canonical parish in 2027. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work toward that goal!
